Redefining Innovation for Women in Business – World Café
November 14, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
How do we define innovation – and who gets left behind?
The Canadian Government has identified Women Entrepreneurship Strategy as the centrepiece of their 2018 budget. They have cited the following stats as evidence that change is needed:
-Approximately 16% of small and medium-sized enterprises are
-Only 10% of high-growth firms are owned by women
A major focus of the government’s strategy looks at reforming innovation programming to improve the participation of women entrepreneurs.
Community Innovation Lab will be hosting a World Café at the Co iLab Hub in celebration of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day to investigate the question of innovation in women-led businesses.
The host will welcome attendees and introduce the World Café process and theme. Attendees will be separated into small groups for in-depth discussions (3 rounds.) After 10 minutes, each attendee will move to another table. The table host will welcome the new group and briefly provide them with an overview of the outcomes of the previous round, and reframe the question for an even deeper dive.
At the end of the discussions, all attendees will gather for the “harvest” where table hosts and individuals will share their insights from their discussions.
